Artist: Armand Assus (1892-1977)
The fourth installment in the Orientalist series, this is a painting by the French artist Armand Assus, Algiers, 1892, who died in Antibes in 1977. Introduced to art by his father, Salomon, Armand studied at the School of Fine Arts in Algiers, then in Paris. He spent many years writing about Algeria, regularly returning to the country. He received the Grand Prize for Art of Algeria in 1925, and this painting dates from 1943.
