Large Silver Crown For A Statue Of The Virgin Mary. Italy, 19th Century. Sacred Art
Important openwork silver votive crown of the Virgin Mary, Italian work from the 19th century, probably originating from southern Italy (Naples region). This crown was intended to adorn the head of a statue of the Virgin during processions or in a devotional context. The openwork decoration of scrolls and foliage in a Baroque style is finely worked in silver. The base is highlighted by a guilloché band, adding structure and elegance to the whole. The hallmark "800" is visible, corresponding to a silver fineness of 800/1000, the standard for 19th-century Italian silversmithing. A beautiful object of sacred art, both decorative and historically significant. Good overall condition with a lovely antique patina.
