A very pretty mahogany and mahogany veneer bergère armchair from the Directoire period, with a slightly sloping back ending in a scroll, detached baluster armrest supports, tapered and ringed front legs, and saber-shaped rear legs.
It is upholstered in a charming needlepoint tapestry in perfect condition, in keeping with the style of the period, featuring garlands and wreaths of flowers surrounding classical figures in shades of yellow, green, ochre, and ecru.
