Pair Of Painted Gondola Chairs, Hollywood Regency, 20th Century
A beautiful pair of Hollywood Regency Empire-style gondola chairs with openwork backs decorated with an elegant hand-painted lyre motif in shades of gold and red. Their heavily distressed black wooden frames give them lots of character and authentic charm. The seats have been reupholstered in a light-colored fabric, which contrasts nicely with the dark wood. The lines are elegant with curved armrests and tapered legs typical of the Empire style. They are very comfortable, possibly Italian, and probably date from the 1960s. Seat height 46.5cm. Sold in pairs, I have 4 chairs in total.
