Set Of Six Chairs, Venice Mid-18th Century.
These six elegant Italian chairs from the Barocchetto period (1720-1770) are made of natural wood. The backrest, composed of sinuous vertical rails, is molded wood edged with a thin cord. Its upper section is carved with motifs of curves and counter-curves, a small flower and stylized leaves, as well as motifs reminiscent of the French Regency style. The seat is upholstered, and the seat rail is shaped and highlighted with a cord that terminates in a small volute on the first third of the leg. The end of the leg is shaped like an animal hoof, over which a few hairs hang. In very good condition, these chairs have been recently reupholstered. While the petit point tapestry covering them could benefit from replacement, the upholstery, in perfect condition, should be retained. Mid-18th century. Dimensions: height 103 cm, width 50 cm, seat depth 44 cm, seat height 50 cm.
