Antique Chinese Qingbai Porcelain Lobed Bowl, Song Dynasty (960–1279)

Antique Chinese porcelain bowl dating to the Song Dynasty (960–1279), produced in the Qingbai tradition associated with the famous Jingdezhen kilns of Jiangxi Province.

The bowl is elegantly potted with thin walls and a gently flaring profile, the rim formed into soft lobed petals creating a refined lotus-flower silhouette. The porcelain is covered in a delicate translucent Qingbai glaze of pale bluish-white tone, characteristic of Song dynasty production.

The glaze pools slightly around the neatly cut foot ring and displays the cool icy tone that distinguishes Qingbai wares. The base is unglazed within the foot ring and shows natural firing marks and kiln grit consistent with early Jingdezhen manufacture.

Qingbai porcelain, literally meaning “blue-white,” was among the most refined ceramic productions of the Song period and was prized for its purity of form, thin potting, and luminous glaze.

Diameter: 20.8 cm

Condition: Good condition. Two very small rim chips, one with a faint hairline crack of approximately 9 mm extending from it. These minor imperfections are typical for porcelain of this age and do not detract from the beauty or display quality of the piece.
