Set Of 6 Large Tyrolean Chairs With The Imperial Habsburg Eagle, Original Polychromy.
A spectacular set of six large Alpine chairs in carved wood, probably from the Austrian Tyrol, dating from the second half of the 19th century. These chairs are distinguished by their high backs adorned with a carved medallion depicting a crowned double-headed eagle, the imperial emblem of the Habsburgs and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The carving is executed in the style of traditional Alpine furniture, with deep and expressive relief. The decoration is completed by antique polychromy with gilt highlights that emphasize the wings and crown of the eagle. The structure rests on turned legs and shaped stretchers, and the seats are straw-seated.
