18th Century Parisian Two-part Walnut Buffet
A rare and elegant two-part Parisian walnut buffet, dating from the 18th century. This rare and elegant Parisian buffet, crafted entirely from solid walnut, is distinguished by its beautiful, slender proportions and its arched pediment with a double projection, typical of Parisian production in the second half of the 18th century. The molded panel doors display meticulous and harmonious craftsmanship, while the molded uprights and shaped rails highlight the quality of the cabinetmaking. The interior is fitted with antique shelves, offering ample storage. The back panels are made of molded oak, making the piece visually appealing even when open. The lock and ironwork are original or very old, with an internal wrought-iron cremone bolt. The piece features visible screw-and-bolt joinery on the sides, a construction technique characteristic of 18th-century Parisian craftsmanship, allowing for a solid assembly while facilitating disassembly. The walnut has a beautiful, warm, even, and deep patina, bearing witness to its age and use, without excessive restoration.
