Pair Of Gilt Bronze Wall Sconces With A Quiver And Antique-style Vase - Louis XVI Style - 19th Century
This elegant pair of two-light wall sconces is a very fine piece of high-quality craftsmanship from the second half of the 19th century, during the Napoleon III period. They elegantly showcase the neoclassical style of the late 18th century. The central stem, resembling a quiver of crossed arrows, is surmounted by an antique-style baluster vase adorned with laurel garlands and scrollwork finials. The lower section concludes with a beautiful acanthus seed finial, providing perfect balance to the whole. The lights, with their graceful, foliate curves, support candle holders with cups chased with daisy motifs. The fine, high-quality chasing and the original gilding most likely indicate Parisian production. The reverse reveals careful sand casting and threaded rod mounting typical of the 19th century.
