Collection Of The "grand Tour" Of Terracotta Cameo Prints Of Ancient Gods And Goddesses
Artist: Non Signés
A beautiful collection of Italian terracotta cameos depicting gods and goddesses of Greek and Roman antiquity, originating from the Castle of Sammenza in Tuscany. The decoration comprises a panel of a dozen cameos from various sources, showcasing beautiful terracotta hues. They are mounted directly on marbled paper of a fine blue-grey to better appreciate the details. The elegant early 20th-century frame, featuring palmettes and mounted on gilt and stuccoed wood bars, displays great First Empire style. This collection, originally from educational boxes, has decorative value and was conceived by a decorator from the Italian peninsula later (around 1860). A tasteful "cabinet of curiosities" ornament in a Neoclassical spirit, it is in good condition and perfect for a refined decor (see the individual cameos, each unique, which all come from this collection). The price is reasonable; cameos of this kind are rare, as I, a specialist in the field, find them quite rare... A beautiful glimpse into the world of antiquity.
