Flemish School, 17th Century, Oil On Wood: "portrait Of A Lady Of The Court", In Its Gilt Frame
Artist: Non Signé
This rare and beautiful small portrait, painted on an oak panel and presented in a charming molded, gilt-leaf frame mounted on a bar, depicts a lady of the court from the very beginning of the 17th century. She wears a ruff, pearls in a diadem adorning her hair, which is decorated with beautiful roses, and a dark fur-collared coat framing her fir-green bodice. Her assertive three-quarter view intrigues us, for she is not looking directly at us; she simply holds the pose with a vacant stare. The soft colors and details demonstrate the fine and meticulous pictorial quality, smoothed like all good paintings of this period, late 16th/early 17th century, Dutch. This work, small as it may be, emanates a personality where quality predominates. In very good condition and coming from a private collection in central France, this lovely painting is sure to satisfy even the most demanding collector. In perfect condition, this decorative and historical painting is truly captivating.
