Large Louis-Philippe period clock circa 1850. Mercury-gilt bronze,
featuring an important, richly detailed romantic scene depicting Paris
the shepherd embracing a young woman playing the aulos. Large, richly
chiseled base with a front decorated with marble plaques framing the
white enamel dial protected by glass. Second marble base with six
chiseled feet.
Original, unmodified mechanism, striking on the hours and half-hours on an antique bell.
