Relics of the Holy Cross and 4 ex ossibus of saints and martyrs - 18th century- Spain.

Rare oval wrought iron reliquary.

Description:

The frame features a beaded and molded mount, typical of devotional objects from the late 17th or 18th century.
The top bail is forged in one piece. The whole is closed by an antique beveled glass.
Under the glass, a four-lobed rosette composition, painted in red and blue, is arranged around a central medallion marked with a small handwritten cross.

Each compartment contains a relic ex ossibus identified by a handwritten Latin inscription.
The following inscriptions are visible:
• S. Simon M. (Saint Simon Martyr)
• S. Clem. (Saint Clementine)
• St. Millan M. (Saint Millan Martyr)
• St. Victoria VM (Saint Victoria, Virgo and Martyr)

The relics are arranged in circular niches, encircled with a red rim.

Dimensions: 7.5 x 6 cm.

Condition:

Good structural condition. Old oxidation consistent with age on the iron mount.
Antique glass showing signs of age and slight internal opacification. Interior not disassembled.

In accordance with canon law (can. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as a sacred work of art.
The relics it contains are not the object of the transaction, but are included free of charge for their historical and cultural value.
