Empire Style Center Table After A Model By Jacob Desmalter

Empire style center table , after a model by Jacob Desmalter. It is entirely veneered in mahogany and richly decorated with gilt bronze mounts.
The uprights feature four gilt bronze caryatids, and the crossbars are adorned with laurel leaves, rosettes, and palmettes.
The base has a stretcher surmounted by an antique-style vase flanked by two sphinxes.
A similar model decorated Caroline Murat's bedroom at the Élysée Palace in 1803. It is now in Versailles (Grand Trianon).
Sea-green marble top with a molded edge (restored).
