Set of six “Church Chairs” designed by Viggo Hardie-Fischer and produced by Sorø Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1950s. Inspired by the work of Kaare Klint for the Bethlehem Church in Copenhagen, this model was originally conceived for Mariehøj Church, consecrated in 1958, for which Hardie-Fischer served as architect, and remains in use there to this day.

Crafted from solid oak with woven paper cord seats, these chairs feature a direct, well-proportioned ladder-back structure. Originally made for church interiors across Denmark and Sweden, they were conceived for durability and daily use.

Simple yet elegant, the combination of warm oak and natural cord introduces texture without ornament. Beyond their ecclesiastical origins, these chairs integrate effortlessly into contemporary interiors and sit comfortably alongside works by Scandinavian modern designers such as Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, Tapio Wirkkala, Josef Frank, Paavo Tynell, Alvar Aalto, and Hans-Agne Jakobsson.

Patina and traces of use to the paper cord. Very good overall condition. Seat height : 45 cm.
