Donald Gordon, Rocking Chair In Kauri And Oak. New Zealand Studio Craft, 2004
Artist: Donald Gordon
This rocking chair, made by Donald Gordon in the early 2000s, is a special, unique object, a brilliant combination of creativity and craftsmanship. Made of solid oak and kauri, a native New Zealand wood, it is characterized by beautiful organic forms and precision cabinetwork. Reminiscent of the work of Sam Maloof, Donald Gordon's inspiration likely stems from the American studio crafts movement. Light patina of age, minor discoloration and signs of use, very good overall condition. New Zealand, signed and dated 2004. Seat height: 39cm.
