"Bronze Buddha Pendant. Southeast Asia. Laos Cambodia 15th-16th Century."
Cast bronze pendant depicting a Buddha. The bronze is cast solid, except for the inside of the base, which is still filled with its casting matrix. A bivalve mold was used, either for wax or for bronze; traces of this can be seen on the sides. The headdress, formed by a band covered with half-spheres, the stylized diamond-shaped hair, and the base with triangular designs are elements rarely seen on Buddhas from Southeast Asia, suggesting a possible origin in the Laotian highlands or a post-Khmer period. 15th-16th century. Good condition, beautiful patina, no repairs. Height: 63 mm
