"Brass Or Rolled Bronze Stove. 19th Century. "
A mysterious brass (or bronze) object decorated with motifs that appear Islamic, featuring stylized flowers and leaves. The cylindrical object has a small door opening at the front, at the base, suggesting a fuel inlet. This small door is reinforced with bars riveted with bronze nails. A smoke extraction chimney is attached laterally to the upper part; this chimney could have been closed by a cap, of which only the hinge remains. The missing base reveals the object's interior. The top, held by a large hinge, can be opened. We do not know the object's use; perhaps a perfume diffuser? An incense burner? A small samovar? We do not believe it to be European, but rather Asian, perhaps Turkish or Persian? Height 165 mm. Incomplete.
