Large Louis XVI Ornamental Vase In Turquoise Porcelain And Gilt Bronze
Important turquoise porcelain bottle vase. Superb Louis XVI style mount in chased and gilded bronze: the vase rests on an openwork base adorned with rosettes. The handles, with finely chased putti masks, are decorated with acanthus leaves. Very high quality mercury gilding in both matte and burnished finishes. 19th century work, Napoleon III period. Circa 1850. Note: the digital camera does not accurately capture the true color; the vase is indeed a deep turquoise blue. A superb, large piece, ideal for placing in the center of a cabinet or mantelpiece. A striking decorative object. The vase can also be used as a lamp.
