"Portrait Of The Child Duke Of Montpensier, Born Antoine d'Orléans, Prince Of The Blood, French School, 18th Century"
A rare portrait painted in 1782 of Antoine d'Orléans at the age of seven, a beautiful framed painting of generous dimensions, for the connoisseur of the History of the Ancien Régime; Antoine-Philippe d'Orléans (attribution), born July 3, 1775 in Paris and died May 18, 1807 in Salt Hill, Duke of Montpensier, Prince of the Blood of France, member of the House of Orléans; this beautiful painting was executed around 1782; although only seven years old, he already cuts a fine figure in his child's attire. He was the younger son of Louis-Philippe d'Orléans (1747-1793), Duke of Chartres and later Duke of Orléans, and of Duchess Marie-Adélaïde de Bourbon, "Mademoiselle de Penthièvre," daughter of Louis-Jean-Marie de Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre. Antoine Philippe d'Orléans was born at the Palais-Royal in Paris on July 3, 1775, and was baptized the same day by Jean-Baptiste Talon, Chaplain to the Duke of Orléans, in the presence of Jean-Jacques Pouart, Parish Priest of the Church of Saint Eustache in Paris. I will provide the history of my research with the painting upon purchase. In any case, it is a distinguished and impressive work, depicting a figure full of strength and determination, his attire amusing with a large feathered hat and a white silk sash around his waist over an electric blue doublet. A precious historical painting from the genealogy of the House of Orléans, in very good condition, at an attractive price... A unique work, a sure testament...
