Portrait of Georges Izambard (1848-1931), aged 4 or 5. Izambard, having lost his mother to typhoid fever in 1849, was adopted and raised in Douai by two of Fache's sisters-in-law and he went on to marry the sculptor's daughter. In Douai, and later in Charleville, Izambard was a teacher of rhetoric, where he met his student, and later, friend, Arthur Rimbaud.
