POLICE CAP OF THE SMALL STAFF OF THE 2ND CUIRASSIER REGIMENT OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, with gusset, type 1860, Second Empire (1855-1865). 27055Body of cap in dark blue cloth with scarlet cloth piping placed on the vertical seams and on the middle of the sides. This piping meets on the right side to form a point whose apex reaches the bottom of the cap. Two elliptical side flaps, in dark blue cloth, edged on their convex development with scarlet cloth piping and white braid; These two pieces are sewn to the bottom of the cap and joined at each end by a seam, allowing them to be folded down as desired. On the front, in the curved angle formed by the cutouts of the two flaps, is sewn a grenade embroidered in white cotton thread on a dark blue cloth background. At the front corner of the cap's crown, a tassel of white wool braid with a white cabochon is attached, identifying the junior staff. The interior lining is entirely made of unbleached canvas and marked in ink with two stamps, one for the date 1864 "2E 64" and the other with the registration number "3741". France. Second Empire.
