Important Restoration Style English Flame Mahogany Commode – Circa 1830. A beautiful and substantial English commode veneered in flame mahogany, dating from the first half of the 19th century (circa 1820-1840). This five-drawer model features a remarkable, symmetrical, and deep grain, characteristic of high-quality British mahogany. It has a molded cyma recta cornice, side uprights adorned with carved appliqués, and a plinth base typical of English furniture of this period. The original turned knobs are present. The drawer interiors are made of softwood, consistent with English manufacture. The structure is sound, with a beautiful, warm, and even patina. This generously proportioned and highly decorative piece is a testament to its quality.
