Here is a pair of mid-19th-century paintings depicting charming views of squares in old towns in front of grand churches. One is Baroque in style with a large dome, the other Gothic. The surrounding houses are still medieval, giving these scenes a romantic character. Realistic or imagined, delicately painted, they are beautifully framed in turned ebony with copper bands and a small hanging ring. They appear never to have been removed from their frames. One bears an old number. Very good overall condition.
