A charming pair of watercolor portraits of a young couple, painted around 1840. Their attire is typical of the period, with the gentleman in a frock coat and the lady in a dress very devoutly fastened at the chest and a lace headdress. The drawings are signed, but the signature is very difficult to decipher. Slightly faded, they retain a romantic charm in their small antique frames.
