"1948. Alfred Jarry, Complete Works "
The work of Alfred Jarry (1873-2907) is part of the teeming literary margins of the early 20th century. A student of Henri Bergson, after chaotic studies, he collaborated on numerous publications, became friends with the most advanced artists (Paul Gauguin), as well as those of the most prominent literary scene of the time (Rémi de Gourmont, Alfred Valette). He created the concept of Pataphysics. He built a work that exploded, his Ubu Roi will be a shattering scandal, but it left a lasting impression. This publication by Monte Carlo Editions is the first attempt to give the reader all the texts produced by this singular author. His graphic work is also reproduced. This edition is accompanied by a later work by Michel Arrivé which offers a reading grid for this collection. Eight volumes, very good condition, some uncut, one of 3000 on white vellum.
