Drawing On Paper - Portrait Of A Young Woman - French School (19th Century)
Drawing on paper - Portrait of a young woman - French School (19th century) Drawing on paper depicting the portrait of a seated young woman, her hair styled in an elegant high chignon characteristic of the 1830s. She is shown in three-quarter view, wearing a low-cut dress with off-the-shoulder necklines, typical of Romantic fashion during the July Monarchy. The drawing is executed with finesse, combining graphite lines and sanguine highlights emphasizing the contours of the arm, neck, and face. The work is dated 1838 in the lower right corner. The signature is present but difficult to read. French School - Romantic School. Good overall condition. Light patina on the paper consistent with age. Some minor old marks and small, insignificant imperfections. On display at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
