Depicting a Little Boy Sitting on a Chair, painted around 1965.
Elisabeth Fobe, 1912-2000, was a Belgian painter, draughtswoman, and gouache artist born in Ghent. She studied under Geo Mommaerts and Charles Swyncop at the Ixelles Academy. She expressed herself in an almost naive pictorial style and specialized primarily in portraits of children. Fame left her cold. The only thing that truly mattered to her was living her painting. And she was completely absorbed by this experience. In her sketchbook, always close at hand, she noted the subjects that moved her, whether it was the elderly people of the Marolles district or in Brussels' squares, the children playing in the streets of her neighborhood or whom she met during her travels. She was a member of the Cercle L'Ebauche in Brussels, where she exhibited her first works. She died in Rugby, Great Britain. Her works are held at the Etterbeek town hall. She is listed as an artist in the Bénézit, Arto, and Piron dictionaries. Listed on Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
