"Lunéville Or Saint-clément (lorraine), Bulb Pot (called "caisse à Oignons"), Circa 1780-90"
Planter known in the 18th century as a "bulb case" in white enameled tin-glazed earthenware, enhanced with gold. "Petit feu" (or "muffle kiln") decoration limited to gilt highlights. Quadrangular in form, it rests on four fluted feet at the corners. Interior lugs held a pierced tray designed to hold tulip bulbs and cut flowers.

The tray is missing. The piece shows some minor chips but no restoration (UV detection).
Saint-Clément was an official supplier to Marie-Antoinette's Trianon.
