It features remarkable Boulle marquetry: finely cut tortoiseshell inlaid with gilt brass, forming a rich decoration of arabesques and scrolls.
The whole is enhanced by high-quality gilt bronze ornamentation: arabesques and scrolls with highly stylized vegetal tendrils, acanthus leaves, floral motifs, small flowers integrated into the scrolls, as well as mascarons with female heads placed at the top and on the front.
The central section has a particularly generous and luminous glazed opening, revealing a beautiful pendulum adorned with a high-relief mask of Bacchus. Contrary to what the photograph suggests, this clock is perfectly distinct and features the same gilding as the cartel clock.
The domed white enamel dial is complemented by finely crafted gilt hands. It is accentuated by a row of pearls surrounding a domed crystal.
Original, unaltered movement.
Striking of the hours and half-hours on an antique bell.
The marquetry has been protected with a French polish, enhancing the contrast and luminosity.
