"17th Century Terracotta Model "
A 17th-century terracotta sculpture, Modello, French School, depicting the Rest on the Flight into Egypt. Mary is seated, nursing the Infant Jesus, while Joseph reclines, his left arm resting on a bundle. Mary leans against a tree trunk, which was originally intended to be whole. The tree's location can be seen on the back of the sculpture. The sculpture beautifully captures the movement, with a large shawl enveloping the Infant Jesus, and Mary's face is lovely and full of tenderness.
