Hanging Shelf, Provençal Or Estanié Walnut, Early 19th Century
A charming Provençal pewter shelf, beautifully carved in walnut.
Originally intended for displaying pewter, this type of shelf can easily be repurposed today.
The front is carved with a large tureen, laurel branches, and small flowers.
The uprights and crossbars are generously shaped. It rests on small Louis XV shell feet.
The walnut has a superb patina.
There is only a small, barely visible V-shaped graft on the back right of the top.
A very decorative and original little shelf, easy to place.
