Marseille Quilted Blanket - Double-sided In Striped Cotton And Plain Blue - Antique Linen

Large Provençal quilt in Marseilles style (circa 1900), hand-stitched and sewn in printed cotton canvas, one side of which is striped, lined with a plain blue-grey canvas and folded over. The tight, dense, and regular stitching features various motifs, including a central medallion on a lozenge background depicting a carpet, surrounded by a frieze of interlacing patterns connecting a heart stitched in each outer corner, mirrored by a fan stitched in each inner corner of the design. The quilt is crafted with precision.

Condition: Note the absence of a few stitches here and there, as well as some light fading from long storage, visible in the photos where the contrast has been intentionally increased to better appreciate their presence. There is a small tear requiring repair or patching (see photo for detail). No wear to the materials or any signs of fragility under tension.
