French School, after Jean Charles Delafosse. Allegory of Peace. Abandoning their weapons, two children are turned in the foreground towards the profile of Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage. The background is decorated with a trophy of Roman arms, including a cuirass, a crested helmet resting on a mace, a pelta, and a standard bearing the inscription "hustibus Casis." Ink and pencil drawing. Presumed monogram added at the bottom of the sheet by Jean Charles Delafosse for attribution. 18th-century frame mounted with keys; some patina retouching to be noted.
