"Alexandru Ciucurencu (1903-1977) Romania "woman Sewing" Ink And Ink Wash Drawing"
Alexandru Ciucurencu (1903-1977) Romania "Woman Sewing" Ink and ink wash drawing; Very fine, finished drawing, monogrammed lower right; Dimensions: 42 x 29.5 cm. Alexandru Ciucurencu marks a new stage in the evolution of the Romanian school's artistic vision. The artist studied in Paris, benefiting from the many influences of that era. He studied in the studio of André Lhote, from whom he learned the art of expressively simplifying planes and the concept of rigorous plastic construction. Chromatic ranges are articulated within a very concise drawing. Ciucurencu's paintings reveal his latent poetry. A wall, a section of roof, a tree covered in leaves is enough to evoke a moment of intense tranquility. He is a refined artist of the 20th-century Romanian avant-garde. (Romanian painting; ed.
