A very rare 19th-century walking stick with a finely carved elk antler portrait head, depicting a Siberian elder, Russian / Siberian workmanship. The face is naturalistic and full of character, with deep-set eyes, a pronounced nose, and a long moustache, showing natural tonal variations and an age patina consistent with antler.
The handle is mounted on a natural birch sapling stem, left intentionally irregular, with visible grain and knots, giving the cane a strong organic presence. The stick is finished with a simple metal ferrule, pinned in place, showing honest wear consistent with age and use.
A distinctive and evocative object, combining ethnographic character with the late 19th-century tradition of functional walking sticks.
Length: 87 cm
Condition: Good condition. Structurally sound.
