The monolithic body of the box is made of dendritic agate.
The lid, also made of stone, is covered with a solid silver mount. Translucent green enamels on a guilloché background adorn the rim of the lid. The upper part is enameled with white lines and translucent purple dots.
The handle is formed by a purple glass cabochon.
The mount is hallmarked:
Boar's head for solid silver, 800/1000 minimum
Poorly struck and illegible maker's mark
A superb little box, quite surprising for a French production, precious due to the use of this magnificent hardstone and its highly crafted mount.
3.6 cm high
4.5 cm in diameter
65.26 grams gross
Good condition. Some small chips and losses to the enamel, but overall good condition. The stone is undamaged.
