Louis XV Style Commode, Curved, 18th Century

An elegant Louis XV style commode, opening at the front with two wide drawers without a central divider, its curved lines characteristic of the mid-18th century. It is crafted from finely inlaid veneer, with the marquetry arranged in a frieze pattern and geometric frieze, highlighted by light wood stringing forming frames and panels, emphasizing the richness of the decoration. The front and sides have a harmonious curve, resting on four cabriole legs terminating in finely chased gilt-bronze sabots. The whole is richly adorned with gilt and chased bronze mounts: foliate drawer pulls, openwork keyhole escutcheons, sculpted corner mounts, and a prominent central bronze rocaille motif at the bottom. All of this testifies to meticulous decorative work, in keeping with the spirit of 18th-century French taste. The top is finished with a red veined marble slab, likely Griotte or Languedoc red marble, with a molded edge that perfectly follows the curved lines of the piece. Condition: very good condition, with a warm patina on the wood and bronze mounts.
