"19th Century Italian Cabinet "
This Italian cabinet exemplifies the elegance and craftsmanship of marquetry. Made from rosewood and burr wood, it is richly decorated on all surfaces, revealing bone inlays forming patterns where arabesques, scrolls, geometric motifs, and floral designs intertwine. When the two doors are opened, the main face reveals the central door adorned with the figure of Diana the Huntress; indeed, she is recognizable as she holds a bow and a quiver of arrows. In this respect, the iconography of Diana the Huntress can, to some extent, reflect a humanist sensibility, particularly in the idea of harmony between humankind and nature, a common theme in cabinets intended for private collections. This cabinet has 13 drawers, designed to store documents or precious objects. It rests on a wooden table with an inlaid base, showcasing refined decorative work, with two drawers. 120cm height, 60cm width when closed, 28cm depth
