"Xavier De Langlais 1906-1975"
Oil on canvas, signed lower right. Xavier de Langlais was born in 1906 in Sarzeau, Morbihan, and died on June 14, 1975, in Rennes. A multi-talented artist—painter, engraver, and writer—he is best known for his seminal work, *La Technique de la peinture à l'huile* (The Technique of Oil Painting), published in 1959, as well as for his involvement in the Seiz Breur movement. Throughout his life, Langlais worked to preserve and promote Breton identity through his artistic and literary creations.
