"Quartz-set Brooch, 19th Century."
This large flower-shaped brooch or clasp is made of slightly gilded metal and set with white quartz. It was likely intended to fasten a shawl, stole, or bodice. It is a regional piece of jewelry whose exact origin we have been unable to determine, but it seems likely to be similar to pieces made in Provence. In good overall condition, there is a small chip at the base of the post. 19th century. The brooch measures 12 cm in length and 14.5 cm at the end of the pin.
