Pair Of Bronze Pugs, 20th Century.
These two pugs are made of bronze. The male wears a hat and a bow tie, while the female wears a pleated bonnet tied in front. They rest on a black marble base veined with white. This breed of dog, cherished by Queen Victoria, is very popular with our English neighbors, who humorously depict them dressed in clothing similar to that worn by their owners. These two dogs have an extremely content expression and seem happy with their lot; however, their patina is worn in places. 20th century. Height: 38 cm for the male with the base, 35 cm for the female, and the bases measure 27 cm x 16 cm.
