"Sculpture - Bronze - Nude Woman - Vietnam - 20th Century "
A rare and remarkable bronze sculpture with a brown patina, depicting a standing nude female figure, rendered with great elegance and a keen sense of proportion. The young woman adopts a graceful and natural pose, her arm raised and delicately resting on her head, creating a supple and harmonious line that emphasizes the movement of her body. Her face, with its fine and serene features, conveys a serene and contemplative expression, accentuating the softness and balance of the composition. The modeling of the body is subtle, revealing careful attention to anatomy, while the precise chiseling delicately highlights the volumes. The sculpture rests on a simple and balanced quadrangular base and displays a beautiful, deep, and nuanced antique patina, lending the whole a warm and authentic presence. The work is signed on the base “KM Ishikawa,” by Minao Ishikawa, a 20th-century artist known by his artist name, Koyo. Ishikawa taught casting techniques at the Hanoi Vocational School, playing a significant role in transmitting bronze-casting skills to Vietnam during the French Indochina period. This sculpture is a rare example of early 20th-century Vietnamese artistic production, illustrating a refined synthesis of Asian influences and Western sensibility. Vietnam, circa 1920
