*Alfred Jean Chagniot, born in Paris in 1905, died in the same city in 1991. French Post-Impressionist painter.
He was a student of Montézin. In Paris since 1936, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, becoming a member in 1938, hors concours (outside the competition).
He received numerous awards, including the Bashkirtseff Prize and the Fernand Renaud Prize.
He also exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, the Winter Salon, and the peripheral Salons, obtaining various distinctions.
In 1971, he won the Grand Prix at the Salon de l'Ecole Française and was the guest of honor at the Musée du Luxembourg in 1990.
In 1993, a retrospective was held in Croissy.
