Neo-impressionist Painting By Alfred Jean Chagniot, Harvest Scene In Seine-et-oise

Painting from the 1950s depicting a harvest scene in Seine-et-Oise, a former department in the Paris region which had Versailles as its capital, dissolved in 1968.
The scene is full of warmth and light, the exhausted harvesters rest in the open field amidst the chickens and hay, all treated in a neo-impressionist style. Signed lower right Chagniot for Alfred Jean Chagniot (1905-1991)*.
Very good condition, the canvas measures 55cm x 46cm, and has its original carved and patinated wooden frame.

*Alfred Jean Chagniot, born in Paris in 1905, died in the same city in 1991. French Post-Impressionist painter.
He was a student of Montézin. In Paris since 1936, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, becoming a member in 1938, hors concours (outside the competition).
He received numerous awards, including the Bashkirtseff Prize and the Fernand Renaud Prize.
He also exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, the Winter Salon, and the peripheral Salons, obtaining various distinctions.
In 1971, he won the Grand Prix at the Salon de l'Ecole Française and was the guest of honor at the Musée du Luxembourg in 1990.
In 1993, a retrospective was held in Croissy.
