Post-Impressionist oil on canvas depicting a still life with oranges and a pitcher. The painting is signed "M. Orant." Marthe Orant (1874-1957) was a French painter trained in drawing from a very young age, then under Marcel Baschet, Maurice Bompard, and Henri Royer, before being influenced by the Nabis, particularly Vuillard and Bonnard. From the 1920s onward, she exhibited regularly in major Parisian salons, including the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon des Indépendants, and the Salon des Tuileries.
