"Saint-eustache Church By Joseph Lépine (1867-1943)"
Watercolor on paper from the early 20th century, depicting part of the Saint-Eustache church in Paris. Painting with a beautiful Art Nouveau frame, signed at the bottom "J.Lépine" Joseph Lépine (1867-1943) French painter from Rochefort-sur-Mer, abandoned a legal career to devote himself to painting. Trained with Louis Cabié in Bordeaux and then at the Académie Julian in Paris, he was part of the post-impressionist movement and developed a style based on light, color and texture. His work, nourished by travels throughout France, demonstrates a great sensitivity for landscapes and urban architecture. From the 1920s, Lépine showed a particular interest in large religious monuments - notably the cathedrals of Rouen, Amiens and Paris. He appreciated their monumentality and the richness of architectural details. Good general condition of the work. Dimensions without frame: 40 / 27.5 cm
