"Portrait Of A Young Girl By Lucie Rogues (1871-1965)"
Pastel on paper dated 1914, depicting the portrait of a young girl named "Violette." Beautifully executed pastel, signed lower left "L. Rogues." Lucie-Eugénie Rogues (1871-1965), a pastel artist and painter of children's portraits, was born in Metz in the 19th century. She studied under Jules Lefebvre, Gabriel Ferrier, and Mademoiselle Olivier. A member of the Société des Artistes Français from 1894, she exhibited at the Salon of this group. In 1914, she exhibited two pastels, including "Portrait of Mr. le Vicomte de C.", and in 1929, she exhibited another pastel, "Marie-Jeanne B." Good overall condition, modern frame.
