Oil on canvas, early 20th century, depicting "Hungarian Csikos" during a traditional equestrian show. Beautiful painting in the spirit of the painters of the Paris school. Signed "Varga A 1932, Parisi". Albert Varga (1900–1940) Hungarian painter and illustrator born in Budapest. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest in the studio of Réti István, he then traveled to Dresden, Munich and Paris thanks to the support of patrons from Temesvár (Timișoara). Living for a time in Temesvár, he founded a free artists' studio and collaborated with several local magazines, including Fajankó. His work is characterized by portraits, figurative compositions and still lifes influenced by the European artistic trends of his time. In 1928, he settled in Paris, where he organized a notable solo exhibition. He died in Paris in 1940. Good general condition, some cleaning required and canvas not stretched enough. Period frame.
