Silver Ottoman Priming Flask
An Ottoman priming flask adorned with finely engraved and repoussé decoration, depicting sumptuous floral motifs and symmetrical applied elements. The lid and stopper are inlaid with cabochon-cut garnet-red glass. The pouring mechanism is operated by means of a hinged spout, decorated with applied silver, which ensures an airtight seal. The stopper is finished with an openwork rim, now partially lost.
The interior is lined with wood to reinforce the structure, and the hinge support is riveted beneath the flask for added strength. A particularly remarkable example, dating from the mid-19th century, during the Ottoman Empire.
