- The Central Medallion: Polylobed in shape and in the Neo-Rococo style, the medallion is richly decorated with scrolls, shells, and foliage. In the center, in high relief, are the society's emblems: two crossed rifles before a target, surrounded by a wreath of laurel (symbol of victory) and oak (symbol of strength). The whole is surmounted by a closed royal crown, often indicating royal patronage or the title of "Royal Society."
- The Chain: The chain of office is composed of alternating, high-quality articulated links:
- Rectangular Links: Adorned with double facing lion heads (the heraldic symbol of Belgium), framing motifs of fleur-de-lis or foliage.
- Blank Shields: Several shield-shaped plaques (shields) punctuate the chain. These were traditionally intended to be engraved with the names of successive winners of the title of "King" of the society. Here, they have remained plain, which is rare.
Historical Context: The "Golden Target" society was one of the most important shooting clubs in Schaerbeek, a Brussels municipality renowned for its vibrant community life. During the annual competition, the most skillful shooter was crowned "King" and received the privilege of wearing this necklace during official ceremonies, processions and festivals of the town.
Technical characteristics:
Material: Solid silver for the pendant (presence of hallmarks on the bail and the reverse) and silver-plated metal for the chain.
